If there is such a thing as a real sucker bet in craps, it has to be to bet the big six or eight option. This can be the only reason why the best is positioned on such a prominent spot on the table, on the left hand side. The big six or eight bet pays out when either a six or eight, hard or soft, is thrown. The bet stays in place as long as the round progresses and either the point is made or a seven is thrown. The odds on hitting big six or eight bet are even money.
Unlike the hard ways bets or the box numbers, the big six or eight bets continue even after the point has been made, through the come out sequence. If the shooter throws a seven, then the stake bet on six or eight coming out is lost. In order for a player to safeguard his stake in a come out situation, he must request that the dealer remove the bet.
There are better odds to be had on a craps table for a six or eight to be thrown, which is the only
possible advantage of using this bet is as a form of insurance if the player is betting on six and eight coming up hard ways. Otherwise it might just be a waste of money!
