Bet the don't pass line option |
Betting on the don't pass line is, as it sounds, betting on the probability that the shooter will not make the point and that the house will win. If a player decides to bet on this option, he can do so from the beginning of each round, even before the point has been made. On the come out, if a player bets on the don't pass line, and a seven or eleven is thrown, then the player loses. Or to the contrary, if the shooter throws any craps, then the player wins, although all that he gets paid is even money. This makes for a highly unattractive bet, but it is a risk that must be taken, as the player is not allowed to place bets on the don't pass line once the point has been made. |

Once the point has been made, then things become a lot less complicated for the player. All that he has to hope for is that the shooter will throw a seven and he will win the bet, which pays a less-than-generous even money. In a land casino, a player who bets the don't pass line is regarded as bit of a social pariah. However if his skin is thick enough to see it through, he can actually enjoy the best bet in the house. As long as the dealer doesn't throw too |

many sevens before the point is made, the chances of making a profit on betting the don't pass line is as high as a player will find, as long as he doesn't dilute his chances by placing bets based on the shooter making the point.
In online casinos betting on the don't pass line is not a problem. As the odds are generally more in favour of the player in an online casino, certain ones even pay out even money if the shooter throws snake eyes on the come out, while some regard that throw as a stand off. In the event that the shooter does throw a double one on the come out, most players will let the bet double up, since they are playing with found money. This is a way of showing their gratitude to the casino for its generosity. |
