| One of the most widely used betting options on a craps table is the field option. This may well be for two reasons: one, because the field bet is the largest and most prominent slot on the craps table; and secondly, because it is certainly the most straightforward of bets. |

To begin with, the field bet is a single roll bet, which means that you either win or lose on each throw, and you don't have to worry too much. Craps strategists are inclined to turn their noses up about betting the field, but certainly a lot less than they do about certain other single roll bets.

better odds if the throw is either snakes eyes or the hard twelve, without any need to specify these two numbers. The losing throws are five, six, eight and, of course, the dreaded seven. The first three numbers are among the hardest to achieve while seven, unfortunately, comes up with amazing and unwelcome regularity when the point has been made.
To many, the field bet is a lot of fun and a way to keep involved in every throw of the dice without too much involvement or freezing too many gambling chips across the table. Yet the house advantage for a field bet is much higher than it would appear: some say around 5% in favour of the house, which is a very high percentage when compared to the minimal 1.4% advantage that the house enjoys on a pass line bet. Online players can enjoy a better edge than in a land casino, as the house often pays higher odds on the less likely combinations, such as twos, twelves, and even nines or tens. While hardly a crap player's purist bet, the field bet can still add a lot of spice to a player's betting action. |
