Craps Casino History
One thing for sure is that the game of craps has a history that is as murky as the game itself is uncertain. In general, it is believed to have derived from an ancient game known as Hazard. History has it that Hazard was dreamed up by an English crusader, Sir William of Tyre, who played the games with his fellow knights, while laying long term siege to a castle called Hazarth, almost nine hundred years ago. There is another theory that the name Hazard is derived from the Arabic word 'azzah', which translates into dice, meaning that the origin of the game may have come from the Middle East.
craps-casino-history   Whatever its origins, Hazard was a very popular game in England for hundreds of years, and was even worthy of mention in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. Records also show it being played in the first casinos in London, way back in the 17th century. It was no doubt that from there the French discovered Hazard and it then spread across the gaming centres of Europe and ultimately to the United States, through the back door of New Orleans. While there is no actual records to support
this or logical reason why, the Americans began to call Hazard craps, and the name has stuck.

As they normally do, American players simplified the game considerably and the new "Americanized" version gained a fresh wave of popularity across the world.

At Craps games online, our goal is to provide a highly satisfying online gaming experience by supplying the highest level of information on the game, its rules and its origins.
